Follow these simple steps to bring your dream into reality.
Step 1. Confirm Audio Rights
Confirm that you have audio rights for your book. For understanding about the Audio Rights, Please click here.
Step 2. Decide Who is the Producer
Decide who should produce the book. In other words who should pay for all the expenses to create the Audiobook. The costs involved in producing an audiobook are outlined here. Once the decision is made, have the appropriate contracts or MOU’s (Memorandum of Understanding) signed to avoid any issues or conflicts later about the rights of the Audiobook.
Step 3. Decide the Narrator
If the Author is not a narrator then it is important for the author to decide on who is going to narrate the book. Since narration is a very important aspect of the audiobook and its success largely depends on how the book is narrated. It is very critical to choose the right narrator for reading the book who understands the contents of the book and also can get into the shoes of the author to provide the expressions as expected by the author. The author can select the narrator based on a sample of his previous work or a personal meeting or an audition which ensures that the narrator gives justice to the book and provide an appealing voice to its contents to get the best results.
Step 4. Sign Relevant Contracts
It is important to have a contract or an agreement or an MOU(Memorandum of Understanding) between various stakeholders like a producer, narrator, and the author. Having a signed contract in place avoids any confusion or any disputes as far as Audio rights are concerned. So ensure that before you produce any audiobook, the written documentation is neat, tidy and signed.
Step 5. Create an Audio Sample
It is important to make a 10 -15 minutes finished the audio sample of the book. This sample validates if the narrator has given the result which is expected by the Author or a Producer.
Step 6. Receive Feedback on Audio Sample
It is important to send the audio sample created by the narrator to as many reviewers as possible which helps to get true feedback before time and make any corrections. This Audio Sample can also be sent to iPustak HUB for evaluation. Experts at iPustak HUB will provide support and guidance for improvement of the audiobook if any. This would help any rejection or rework once the book is complete. This will also save time, money and effort for the narrator as he/she would get timely feedback and make the necessary changes as expected by the Author or the Producer.
Step 7. Record Full Audiobook
Once the feedback on the Audio Sample is received, make necessary changes and then record the entire audiobook. It is recommended to monitor the recording and check time to time, if the feedback given by the reviewers is incorporated consistently in recording and narration.
Step 8. Arrange for the Distribution of Audiobook
Once the Audiobook is produced, you can contact iPustak HUB for the further assistance with the distribution of the audiobook via iPustak Audiobook App and also through the extended partner network that iPustak HUB has around the world to ensure that the book reaches the hands of intended listeners.
If you have a non-exclusive distribution arrangement with iPustak, then you can take the finished book to other distributors also. If you sign an exclusive contract with iPustak then iPustak will take care of all of the distribution steps.
Step 9. Promote Your Audiobook
No one promotes and can promote a book like an author does. It is important for authors to understand and exploit the various promotional methods like book promotion tours, social media promotion, print advertisements, interviews, radio promotions etc. It’s important to spend as much time on promotion as the author spends on writing the book. Social Media experts at iPustak HUB provide support and guidance to the authors to suggest means and ways of promoting a book effectively so that it creates its well-deserved buzz.
